As an interior designer, you tend to explore topics that are not in your area of expertise. My final major project is focusing on the world of toys and the possibility of integrating personal customisation. It is fair to say, that 3D Printing is a perfect tool for creating something a bit more personal, especially if you are tech-savvy. To properly understand how to implement a service of 3D printing dedicated to toy makers or curious crafters, you end up printing a toy. This is how Ellie, the orange elephant, ended up on my desk and in my project.
When you are in final year you kind of need all the time you can get to do your work. Websites such as Thingiverse and Myminifactory have been a life saver. The 3D printing process was quicker, as I did not have to design the toy myself, but I did get the opportunity to understand the process of printing in relatively short time. And to top that, I got a pretty cool toy at the end of it.
The 3D Printing Society has been available in my time of need with all the necessary tools and explanations. As the printing took up to 10 hours, I managed to check the printing process from home as it was live streamed. I got the chance to use a technology that is revolutionising the world and I am loving it.
